High and Dry is the second installment in the saga of photobooks I spent 3 years making.
Beginning January of 2021, a friend and I decided we would explore our home state of Arizona one month at a time. Each month picking a new location in the state we had never been to or only ever heard of. The forgotten places. HIGH AND DRY holds a special place in my heart because of this reason. An adventure that stemmed from the remnants of a few impactful life events, both good and bad.
The goal with HIGH AND DRY was to document these weird, abandoned, and interesting places in Arizona (on film) while portraying the feeling of being lost or left behind in the desert... thus the title, HIGH AND DRY. The desert naturally brings about an underlying tone of post-apocalyptic desolation. This feeling of desolation and loneliness in the deserts of Arizona are amplified with each turn of the page. A barren, desert wasteland where dilapidated structures and forgotten things prove that life and beauty find themselves in all things. Where will you find yourself amongst these sights and scenes?
